Lightning Strike Hits Mississippi Air Force Base Camp Shelby Injuring 77

A lightning strike hit a U.S. Air Force Base in Mississippi, and sent 77 Air Force ROTC cadets to the hospital. A Camp Shelby spokesperson said that all the cadets are alert and responsive after their ordeal, which is great news.

After the surprising lightning strike, two cadets were sent to the hospital via ambulance while the other 75 were taken on a Camp Shelby bus. All who were injured are part of the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps.

The lightning strike happened during a severe thunderstorm around 2 p.m. at the base. Thankfully, everyone who was in the area is doing fine now. It sounds like things could have been much worse. It must have been a huge shock to take 77 Air Force ROTC cadets in at the hospital ER. What a crowd!

While there is no word on the exact nature of the lightning strike injuries the cadets suffered, it doesn't sound as if they were life threatening. May they heal quickly.
